Swanson and Brown

It’s so fun to listen to SSG Bob Swanson and PFC John Brown share memories of the war on this audio tape gone digital, which we received from Swanson’s family last week. What a treasure.

My friend Bud Gahs is the sole remaining veteran of this incredible company of men. (Fun fact, Swanson and Brown were in Bud’s platoon, and the three remained friends for life).

My work follows the Rainbow Trail of the ordinary heroes of the Anti-Tank Company, 222 Infantry Regiment, 42nd ‘Rainbow’ Division through Europe and WWII.

These guys have become so near and dear to my heart - and this is an absolute tearjerker / treasure to me. Thank you to the Swanson family!
