My grandfather, his ranch, and his war

Erin Faith Allen walks in the footsteps of her grandfather who served in Company I, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know of my deep love and curiosity for my Grandpa Bill. He served with Company I, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in WWII. In many ways, he is the inspiration behind my quest to help families learn more about their veteran’s experience in war, and the silent legacy of war that far too many families hold.

I was recently able to spend time at the ranch he worked at prior to enlisting in the Army and walking down a trajectory that would change his life forever … and my own. I marinated there for three days, wandering the ground and talking to the people who work there and doing my usual deep-dive for a little bit of history.

As usual, my lucky streak was alive and well, and my efforts paid off. I’ll share more about that in the film that I am making about him through my non-profit Stories of War.
