‘The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious.
If you have a deep scar, that is a door.
If you have an old, old story, that is a door.
If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door.
If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.’ - Clarissa Pinkola Estes
the magnitude or intensity that must be exceeded for a certain reaction, phenomenon, result, or condition to occur or be manifested.
We all have big visions. In fact, that is part of the reason we are all together in this space. I had a big vision to create a deep space, and you had a big vision to create from a deep space.
And, here we are.
The thing is, none of us will ever see our big visions as a reality unless we constantly choose to step over the threshold, reach the threshold, and exceed the threshold.
Every. Damn. Day.
I don’t have anything magical to say about this. I don’t have a step-by-step how to program on choosing.
We just have to make the choice, and do it.
What you can do
What are your stories that are doorways?
What are your scars that are doorways?
What are your pleasures that are doorways?
What is your inner knowing that is a doorway?
What is the memory that is a blocked doorway?
Can you truly believe these doorways are your entrance into a new, wild, precious place?
Can you feel that the wild, precious place is actually inside of you?
That it is you, wanting out? Wanting to express? Wanting to go into new territories? Explore? Taste a new way of being?
Do you trust that your fear, avoidance, procrastination, excuse or hesitation are worse than the doorway itself?
Set a little time aside in which you can be …. close your eyes and allow yourself to drop in and visualize yourself walking toward that doorway. You don’t even have to enter it. Just make friends with your doorway. Maybe there are a few. Just notice them.
Maybe you want to go through …
If you’d like, write. Art journal. Paint. Express yourself, your doorway, and your curiosity about it however you choose.
What is on the other side?
My interior world is crumbling massively. So is my exterior world.
I am the Queen of Liminality right now.
The Queen of Letting It All Break.
I am living in places that are in between everything. I am shedding skin. I am becoming … slowly.
Every day a new piece of information lands in my lap that I slowly need to unwrap and digest.
I feel tender. Raw. Uncertain. Afraid.
There are doorways calling to me.
I am summoning the courage to shed the last remnants of skin that sit like a stench on my soul.
I am returning to the stillness of self-portraiture. The expression of solitude, the clicking shutter, and sometimes even playing dress-up. Sometimes I turn on the film option, and make short films, just for me.
After five years steeping my psyche in war, and in some ways a whole lifetime, I am falling into the soft. The pleasures. My stillness. My body. My soul.
muse ::: eight of swords
I can’t even believe how perfect this card is for this topic. Goosebumps!!
The Eight of Swords (this card is from the Moonchild deck) is a card about self-entrapment. We think we are stuck, we see evidence of our own stuckness all around us. We continue to perpetuate our own stuckness.
And every day is a choice. Every minute, every hour. We can choose a new doorway and cross the threshold.
If you have any decks of tarot cards, spend a little time with your own Eight of Swords. Think about where you perpetuate YOUR mythology of stuckness. Aren’t you tired of being stuck?
Find your doorway and walk through it, girlfriend.
